Participant FAQ

Here we responsed here to common questions we receive via email from participants. For general information about the study, please visit the Study FAQ.

What to do if I need to change the start date?

  • If you would like to push back your start date with 1 week: email us and we can change the start date for you.
  • If you would like to push back your start date with more than 1 week: first you need to delete your current registration (click on the 'Withdraw from study' link at the bottom of our emails) and then you will be able to re-register with a new starting date.

Can I use drugs during the study?

While participating in the study you can not use psychedelics, other than the microdoses, untill the end of the study's dosing period, i.e. between week 0-4 (see the timeline in the manual). Throughout the study you can use other types of drugs, such as alcohol and cannabis with moderation. We will ask you about your drug use, so these will be considered during the analysis.

When should I complete the tests?

  • Pre-, post-dosing and long term follow-up need to be completed within a  week of receiving the invitations.
  • Tests received during the dosing period (the 4 weeks when you take the capsules), must be completed on the same day the links were sent.

I did not have time to complete a test on a given day, what should I do?

Nothing, your data for that time point will be simply missing. Proceed with the experimental protocol as normal and please try to set aside time for the remaining tests.

I forgot to take my capsule, what should I do?

Just let us know by emailing us and then we will mark the lack of dosing within our database.

I had a major life event that dominates my mood, what should I do?

Please email us and then we will analyse your data accordingly. You do not need to share information regarding the nature of the event.

If I do the study with mushrooms, can I use lion’s mane as my placebo filling?

Other mushroom species are preferred as they are less likely to interfere with the cognitive measurements. We recommend using chaga mushrooms, which is also widely available in natural health shops.

The cognitive tests are not displaying.
